Beatlemore Skidmania: The Most Epic Beatles Event of the Year

Skidmore is full of its coveted traditions: Big Show, Fun Day, and, of course, Beatlemore. This all-things-Beatles concert is a high attendance event for both the student body and the Saratoga community. Those in charge of planning the shows, Sami Hutchinson ’20, L. Esther Hibbs ’20, Katelyn Reichheld ’20, and Artist in Resident, Joel Brown, have spent months getting everything ready so the show will be as enjoyable as we all know it to be.

Last Thursday night, I attended a screening of the new WMHT documentary “Lena: A Life in Folk” which was followed by a Q&A with director Nicole Van Slyke as well as others close to the project.

Henry Raker and His Second Album Debut

Skidmore Sophomore Henry Raker ’22 is among those few. By only performing his first show last year, Raker quickly made himself known as a top musician on campus. This past month, he released his album “Holy Shapes,” and set himself on a path for campus-wide success.

Drobakid Album Release: "Two Moons"

Drobakid has easily become a staple of the music scene here on campus, gracing us with music to sway to, dance to, and hum on the way to class. On April 12, the group held a project release event and show at the Schick Gallery to release their first album, Two Moons.

For Neal Matherne, Collections Ethnographer for the Tang Museum and the Library, this became the norm as he developed many different collections throughout his life.

Collectors and Collections: The Timelessness of Clocks

In their daily lives, people notice many different things. What they often overlook? The standard analog clock donning the walls of most classrooms and homes. For Skidmore sophomore Sean Heaney, the everyday object has become a collection item. Heaney has a wall full of different clocks he has collected over the years, with a story to tell about each one.

Collections and Collectors: Travel Artifacts

Skidmore students all have their own unique traits, from different hobbies, to different majors, and even different collections. When she’s not on the quidditch field, in the dance studio, or in the geology lab, Elle Ping ’21 works on her collection of pins and decks of cards.
