Name: Max Fleischman
Position: VP for Student Life
Major: Political Science
Hometown: New York, NY
Fun Fact about Max: He has a half-life sized, cardboard cutout of Danny DeVito in his dorm room.
Why Did Max Join SGA: Max has always been driven to fight against Sexual and Gender Based Misconduct (SGBM). After his freshman year when he helped start the Skidmore chapter of the “It’s on Us” campaign, he thought he could continue to accomplish more as a member of SGA.
What is Max Working On: Max chairs the Committee on Student Life as the Vice President for Student Life. Max has devoted much of the committee’s time to an anti-SGBM program that he has dubbed L.I.F.E., which stands for Learn, Inform, Fight, and Evolve. The program begins by educating themselves on the ins-and-outs of policy relating to SGBM on the national, state, and local levels. This will allow the committee to see how Skidmore complies with these policies and which areas it could go even further. They would then work with Joel Aure, Skidmore’s new Title IX Coordinator, to craft a policy that better responds to the needs of the Skidmore students. By establishing this working relationship with Joel, SGA’s work against SGBM will continue each year.
