After the wild success of The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story, fans on Skidmore's campus are begging for more. The FX miniseries, which follows the OJ Simpson murder trial and the lives of many of the people involved and affected by the case, has been well reviewed and praised for its handling of many themes that resonate with the people on this campus, including racial tensions, corruption and inequality within the justice system, media bias, and the rise of the problematic aspects of reality TV. The Skidmore News questioned students across campus, asking fans just which of these aspects of the show, as well as the crime itself, seemed most significant. The answer was practically unanimous:
the Kardashians
"It's been so fascinating to see the Kardashians on TV," commented Justin Binger ('18). "I think that the scenes depicting the Kardashian children are unlike anything on TV right now. I just want to know more about the family."
A group of student activists, lead by Binger, have written a petition, to be sent to FX executives, demanding that the network write a spin-off show that would follow the daily lives of the Kardashian family.
Binger told the Skidmore News, "People our age—in this age of Netflix and chill—we just know good TV when we see it."
