Darling Doughnuts, the new booming donut business in downtown Saratoga, is worth the hype!
According to the Glens Falls Chronicle, Natascha Peal-Mansman, the founder of Darling Doughnuts, started her business when she had her first child and would bake for fun while out of work. She then started selling her doughnuts in various popup locations, mainly in the Glens Falls area. Her delicious and imaginative yeast-raised doughnuts took off, and in July of 2020, Darling Doughnuts opened their shop in downtown Saratoga Springs.
The flavors are unique and range from maple latte, to lemon blueberry crumble, to carrot cake and more! Each week there is a new menu featuring a new list of doughnuts that can be found on the shop’s Instagram and Facebook.
Ever since their opening, the business has been growing, and the lines outside the door show the devotion customers have for their donuts. Even on a Sunday morning, only an hour after opening, there was a line out the door and almost all of the full sized doughnuts were sold out! Although in more abundance with similar flavors, their mini doughnuts sell out just as quickly.
I got the lemon blueberry crumble and it was delicious! The donuts are light, fluffy and not too sweet. They are different from a normal donut for they are yeast risen. This time consuming process results in the doughnuts to be airy, moist, and a little bit cake-like.
Within the store, there are stickers marking six feet apart and one way traffic flow to minimize contact between patrons. Everyone is required to wear a mask in the store, and there is a five person limit at a time due to social distancing guidelines but the donuts are worth the wait. As of September 18, preorders are also available through their website!
Darling Doughnuts is open Wednesday to Sunday 9am-sold out, so make sure you go early or there won’t be any left!
