Concert Countdown: Oct. 11-17

Every week in Saratoga and the surrounding region, there are countless concerts, from unknown bands to pop stars on the radio. Here are the top five concerts in and around Saratoga Springs this week.

1. Ripe

Oct. 11; Jupiter Hall, Albany, NY

Performing alongside Castlecomer at Jupiter Hall, the group of seven based in Massachusetts, is sure to give a performance that will put anyone in a good mood. Ripe is a pop-funk group producing music that is so energetic it will instantly lift your spirits. The seven members create an irresistible groove, redefining dance music and creating unforgettable concert experiences. Their song “Little Lighter” combines catchy trumpet harmonies with lively guitar melodies to produce a song that will get stuck in your head, but don’t worry, you won’t want it to leave. 2. Castlecomer

Oct. 11; Jupiter Hall, Albany, NY

This Australian-based group, made up of Bede, Tommy, Joe, Neely, and Patch, are making catchy, alternative/indie hybrid tunes that are bound to please all music fans. Their song “All of the Noise” is both energetic and calming, with both smooth guitar notes and intense drum tones. The vocals are infectious, with Bede’s voice catching you in a trance and bringing you a sign of relief that distracts you form the business of the day. This group is quickly making their voice heard, so be sure to check them out.

3. Town Mountain

Oct. 13; Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs, NY

Bringing a completely different vibe, the group from North Carolina is producing catchy bluegrass that will make you think twice about country music. Phil, Robert, Jesse, Bobby, and Zach put their heart and soul into their music, performing at venues ranging from the large spots such as the Grand Ole Opry, to small joints such as quant Saratoga coffee shops. Incorporating the banjo, fiddle, and mandolin, their music is like no other. Their song “Down Low” brings a relaxing feel to any listener as well as being reminiscent of old-school punk music you’ve heard numerous times. Be sure to check out the group while you can — you may be surprised at how much you’ll fall in love with country music.

4. Jocelyn and Chris Arndt

Oct. 11; Putnam Place, Saratoga Springs, NY

Sibling duo Jocelyn and Chris are turning heads with their rock music. Their vocals have been compared to Janis Joplin and their guitar notes that sound like Jimi Hendrix. As a result, the two are making headlines in The Huffington Post and Hollywood Reporter. Based in Cambridge, MA, the two perform as a full band, complete with vocals, drums, guitar, bass, and keys. Their song “Outta My Head” has energetic guitar notes and intense lyrics that will catch you in a trance. The band is quickly making a name for themselves, balancing across-the-country performances while college life. They have been featured at numerous music festivals, and have gotten the chance to work with special guests to bring their music to the next level. You won’t want to miss this duo in action.

5. Perpetual Groove

Oct. 17; Putnam Place, Saratoga Springs, NY

Perpetual Groove is starting to turn heads with their indie-electronic-rock music. The group, comprised of Brock, Adam, Matthew, and Albert, returned to the music scene in 2015 after taking a two year hiatus. They reentered with their self-title album, debuting the song “Spirit Bear” which has the same vibe as the music you would see in an old 90’s teen movie. The smooth tunes of the song, as well as the soothing vocals, makes it clear why the group returned to the music stage. The four know how to make music to encapsulate every kind of fan, giving the audience an unforgettable concert experience.
