What to Do Weekly: 10/24-10/30

Halloween is in one week. Skidmore is giving students a study day this Friday. It’s a good time. Make sure to make the most of it by tending to these fun things:

#1) Mail your absentee ballot. Election day is fast approaching, and while you’ve already heard all the plugs throughout the month to register, now it’s come time to actually vote, so take action! Make your voice heard, do your civic duty, all that good stuff. Just do it.

#2) Kick back with a movie night. Skidmore is showing all your fall favorites this Thursday (tomorrow!) from 10:30pm-2:30am on the big screen in the Spa. Relax with friends at this laidback event and ease into Halloween weekend.

#3) Support some of your favorite Skidmore performers. Campo and QUO! are set to have an exciting show this Friday starting at 10:30pm in Falstaff’s. What better way to end your study day?

#4) Walk for awareness. Saturday, October 27 from 10am-1pm in Case marks the Dan Provost Memorial Walk for Awareness. Provost was a Saratoga resident who sadly passed away from a drug overdose in 2014, and the walk serves “to remember lives taken too soon, to raise awareness of addiction, to educate the community about recovery services and celebrate those living in recovery.” Walkers can register here for this important cause: https://www.zippyreg.com?event=1147.

#5) Laugh. A lot. The Quadruple Threat auction and comedy show is back this year on Friday Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. The show, which will be in Filene hall, helps raise money for Skidmore’s annual College Comedy Festival, lovingly known as ComFest. Bring cash and watch as all four comedy groups—Sketchies, AKT, Skidomedy and Ad-Libs—show off their talent and convince you to bid on their fun, personalized prizes.
