What to Do Weekly: 10/10-10/16

It’s getting to be about midterm season, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting away for a day and enjoying one of five fun activities listed below. Here is this week’s What to Do Weekly:

#1) Get an absentee ballot. Yes, the voting-drive frenzy has settled down a bit and yes, registering to vote is always something you should be thinking about, but today is as good a week as any for those eligible students needing to get an absentee ballot to do so in order to vote in their state. The sooner the better, people.  Election Day is coming up fast (November 6 for those who do not have it marked).

#2) Support Skidmore Theater. This year’s fall Blackbox production, 33 Variations, is coming to the JKB theater this Friday, and you should 100% go see it. Why? Because Skidmore’s theater department almost has too much talent to handle. Plus, Marie Glotzbach is directing the show, and that’s pretty awesome. The Beethoven-related play opens October 12 at 8pm and runs through October 20. Tickets and more information can be found here: https://theater.skidmore.edu/production/33-variations/.

#3) Meet some llamas. The Saratoga Farmers’ Market may happen often, but how often does it happen with llamas? These sweet animals of Dakota Ridge Farm will join the crowd at the market this Saturday, October 13 from 9am-1pm. Need I say more?

#4) Get your paint on. Glenville’s Art in Mind Creative Wellness Studio is having a lot of paint nights coming up, and you shouldn’t miss them. On Friday, October 12 from 7-9pm, guests can enjoy a night of painting while drinking coffee, wine, beer or soda. Snacks encouraged. On Saturday, October 13 from 11am-3pm, you can choose your own surface and medium to paint with. All supplies included.

#5) Party with the dead. Grateful Dead, that is. Putnam Place is hosting a Grateful Dead night this Saturday from 8-9:30pm featuring tons of “grate” acts. Tickets are $15 day of show, $12 in advance (18+ event).
