This Saturday, hundreds of Skidmore students, as well as plenty of Saratoga locals and other Upstate New Yorkers, will flock to the streets of downtown Saratoga to experience the 20th annual Chowderfest. A Skidmore student favorite for many years, Chowderfest draws many in with its $1 a cup deal on chowder from plenty of delicious vendors.
Participants can opt for the classic flavors like New England, Chicken Pot Pie, or Baked Potato Corn chowder, or try something new by going for the “dessert chowders” (served at places like Ben and Jerry’s) or interesting flavors like Short Rib, Chicken Enchilada, or Beer Cheese Kielbasa chowder. After trying all the traditional, original, and whacky combinations of chowders, event-goers can vote online for their favorite at DiscoverSaratoga.org/Vote.
With a full stomach, participants can enjoy the sounds of the bustling crowd as well as live music. Places like Comfort Kitchen (right on Broadway) will have a hip-hop and R&B DJ from 12-3pm and the recently opened Farmer’s Hardware (located at 35 Maple Avenue) will have live music all day with all three of its floors open to the public. Lastly, partakers can cement their first, fourth, or hundredth Chowderfest visit with a photo from photobooths located at the Visitor Center, City Center, or other Broadway locations (368 and 519 Broadway).
Chowderfest 2018 will be held this Saturday, February 3rd, from 11am-4pm in downtown Saratoga Springs.
