Speakers Bureau Chair Candidate Misrepresents Experience in Campaign Video

Kali Villarosa ‘18 has misrepresented her experience on the Speakers Bureau in her re-election video, which was posted to the Student Government Association’s Facebook (SGA) page.

Kali joined the Speakers Bureau as a willingness-to-serve member in the Spring of 2016, first attending meetings no sooner than Mar. 2, 2016, according to email records.  With about two and a half months experience, Villarosa ran for and was elected Speaker Bureau Chair in the Fall semester of 2016-2017.  The election occurred September 2016, and she served for the duration of the Fall semester, but ceded the Chair upon going abroad to Brazil for the Spring semester of the current year.  Her actual time as Chair was about four months, not the two years she claimed.

Making false campaign statements potentially violates the SGA constitution, but SGA President Dorothy Parsons ’17 said to The Skidmore News, “I do not see an election violation.”  Parsons did ask Villarosa “if she could write a comment below the video clarifying what she meant.”

Villarosa told The Skidmore News “I apologize for having misspoken.”  She cited poor internet access as a contributing factor.
