Man Accused of DWI, Hitting Students Provides Statement; Is Former Skidmore Employee

Update 2:40 pm, November 2nd: Skidmore College Communications, "Mr. Gorman did work in Dining Services from 1990 to 2006."

The following is a statement that Thomas H. Gorman gave Sunday November 1st at 2:57pm to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department.

“I saw the first group of people, which I went to the left side of the road. The second group of people, which I approached, I stayed to the left.  The next thing I know, I was a big thump and I got shard of glass on me, and inside my car. I stopped, and I heard a bunch of people start yelling. Now I don’t know if these people were drinking or not. I used to work at Skidmore and they were told no, to walk there because it’s not well lit. The college has emphasized this. I’m just sorry that it happened, it wasn’t intentional.”

The Skidmore News has inquired with the College on Gorman’s employment status and Skidmore has not commented on whether Gorman was a previous Skidmore employee.

When breathalyzed, Gorman tested “positive” for high blood alcohol content, but the exact number has not been provided.  A blood test was also done, but results have not been released. Gorman does not have a previous record of drunk driving.
