Every week in Saratoga and the surrounding region, there are countless concerts, from unknown bands to pop stars on the radio. Here are the top five concerts in and around Saratoga Springs this week.
5. Kuf Knotz- October 2nd at Caffé Lena in Saratoga Springs
Kuf Knotz and Christine Elise bring a different type of music to the Capitol Region. Combining hip hop, soul, and reggae music, they have sparked musical interest all over the country. The unlikely pair of Kuf Knotz, poet and songwriter, and Christine Elise, harpist/pianist/vocalist, have combined to create music with powerful messages. Their song “Spirit Walk” emphasizes the importance of courage and self-help, while being encompassed by catchy tones. This duo is starting to inspire people everywhere with their music, so you don’t want to miss them.
4. The Figgs- September 27th at Caffé Lena, Saratoga Springs
Pete Hayes, Pete Donnelly, and Mike Gent have given The Figgs the success they deserve. This rock and roll group has been together for more than 25 years, and still continues to gain popularity. The three went to high school in Saratoga Springs and have been making music and playing around with their instruments since then. With their vibrant harmonies and sonic experimentation, they seem to be a resemblance of The Beatles, especially with their hit song “Je T’Adore.” The upbeat tones of the music make for a catchy song that you won’t be able to get out of your head. Once you see this band in concert, you’ll want to sing their music all the time.
3. Erin Harkes- October 3rd at Gaffney’s, Saratoga Springs
Hailing from Albany, NY, Erin Harkes is a singer/guitar/piano player. Since she began writing songs at 19, she has released four albums of her own material. Throughout her career, she has performed at major venues and has stared on numerous radio stations that helped boost her fame. Her music shows just how much she has put into everything she has produced, with her hit single “Fall Out” revealing the passion and dedication she has for song making. Harkes music washes over you with calming tones, making you instantly fall in love with the woman behind the sound.
2. The Sea The Sea- October 3rd at Proctors, Schenectady
Comprised of Mira Costa and Chuck E Costa, The Sea The Sea is an upstate NY based indie folk-pop duo making their voices heard. They have received praise from The Huffington Post and NPR, among others, for their melodious music. Their rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas/What a Wonderful World” transports you from the warm fall day to a tranquil winter night while their gentle voices wash over you. Their original song “Love We Are We Love” brings a different vibe with acoustic guitar tones and smooth lyrics. This band and their songs are sure to leave you feeling some type of way.
1. Texas King- September 30th at Hollow Bar and Kitchen, Albany
The rock band Texas King is quickly making a name for themselves in the U.S. Forming in Ontario, the band began earning a reputation for their high-energy rock shows. After numerous tours in Canada, they released their album “Circles” and caught the attention of radio stations and television networks. Their music transports you back in time to the rock you once listened to in the early 2000s, making you feel perfectly content. Their shows are ones you don’t want to miss.
