With so many events jamming themselves into our weekend schedules before Thanksgiving Break, how can you keep them straight? Luckily, we’re here to help.
1. Beatlemore
The annual night of all things Beatles — which inadvertently shows off the overwhelming amount of student talent on this campus — is back this Friday and Saturday. The albums of focus are Abbey Road and Let it Be, so everyone regardless of age or Beatles-knowledge should know a song or two. Both nights are currently sold out online but matinee tickets are still available. In other words: act fast. Don’t delay. Get on it.
2. “Popped Collar Crime,” Sketchies show
A weekend without a comedy show is no weekend at all. Luckily, the Sketchies will be taking over Friday night with their memorable dance-sketch comedy hybrid. As is their nature, there’s not much information regarding the show itself or what to expect. All we do know is the show is at 10:30 p.m. in Gannett and they will be dressed in all black
3. Holiday Lighted Tractor Parade in Greenwich
This is about as Upstate New York as Upstate New York can be. A lighted tractor parade to ring in the holidays? Of course. Yes. Sounds great. What could be even better? This is a tradition now in its seventh year. If you have access to a car, or are willing to split a rather impressive uber fee, then head on over to Greenwich, NY and witness what can only be a fever dream come to life.
4. “The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other”
Like we said — this is a packed-full weekend. And the theater department is no different. Thus, “The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other,” the JKB’s fall Mainstage production, will open Friday Nov. 22. If you can’t make it this week — or if tickets are already gone — don’t fret! There will be more shows once break is over and classes take control again, as the show runs until Dec. 8. Get tickets online here.
5. Muslim Student Association’s Celebration of Mawlid Al-Nabi
Join Skidmore’s Muslim Student Association (MSA) for their brunch celebration of Mawlid Al-Nabi, the observance holiday of Islamic prophet Muhammad’s birthday. The event takes place on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 1 -3 p.m., and is open to all. Interested students do need to RSVP on Skid Sync. Included in the celebration will be a fashion show and a keynote address by Professor Murat Yildiz from the History Department.
