Space, A Poem

The unknown—

Absence of gravity echoes:

Soundless.

Another universe with the delicate moon

Waiting to be discovered.

You uttered,

“Maybe we need space.”

I held in my breath.

Thrown into a rocket,

My tears launched off on its own.

I tried to take off my fears, even considering

Crossing against my own morals for you.

I failed to convince you to commit.

Like a rocket that enters space

Only to turn back into earth,

Afraid.

Or maybe indifferent—

Flames of curiosity extinguished.

The space between space widens

As discoveries cease

As interests fade into a vacuum.

As I scream to close                  the gap

My screams are silent,

                           Swallowed up in the

Void.
