It’s only a matter of weeks before Winter Break, but in addition to all the studying and paper-writing you’ll inevitably be doing, dedicate some of your last moments of the fall semester to these events:
#1) See Nicole Bayer do what she does best. Comedian, actress and writer Nicole Bayer, known for her many creative ventures on MTV, is coming to Skidmore next Wednesday to put on a sure-to-be-great comedy show. With short openings from Skidmore comedy groups and a live show from Bayer, this 8pm event at Zankel is the best way to celebrate the last day of classes.
#2) See a Grammy Award-winning band perform at Putnam. Bringing the sounds of New Orleans to Saratoga, the Rebirth Brass Band is embarking on their 35-year anniversary tour with a special stop at Putnam Place tomorrow from 8:30-11:30pm. For all the jazz-lovers out there, this show is a can’t-miss.
#3) Get in the holiday spirit. For a short trip to the town over, you can enter the winter wonderland that is Ballston Spa this Friday from 6:30-8:30pm. Featuring a holiday parade and tree lighting ceremony, this event will have floats, animals, firetrucks and more, all with free admission.
#4) Support your fellow students. The Tang museum is set to transform into a pop-up shop this Sunday, filled with art and handmade items created entirely by Skidmore students. Starting at 1pm, this free event is open to the public and is the perfect way to find small, beautiful creations to gift to others for the holiday season.
#5) Take a study break. Chillmore will be hosting a popcorn and chocolate event for all those desperately in need of some away time from their textbooks during study days. Happening this Saturday from 7-9pm, Spa will provide students the getaway they need, filled with popcorn and hot chocolate.
